As summer transitions into fall, there is an amazing selection of events coming up in the area that you shouldn’t miss. Here are some events in Philadelphia happening in August, September and October that you should put on your calendar.

Grossman Furniture’s 90th Anniversary Sale

Grossman Furniture is a furniture store in Philadelphia that has been a big part of the community for decades, having set up shop in Philadelphia’s Old City in 1929. Now, they’re hosting their 90th-anniversary sale to celebrate such an incredible run as Philadelphia’s favorite furniture store. You’ll find designer home items on sale for highly discounted prices that would be difficult to find anywhere else. It’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on any items you’ve been wanting, including mattresses, living room furniture, office furniture, entertainment centers, and so much more. Browsing their seven-level showroom, that was recently featured in Philadelphia Style Magazine, is always fun, so be sure to check out the sale while it’s running.

Labor Day Weekend Celebration

In addition to huge Labor Day furniture sales at Grossman Furniture and other shops, the city of Philadelphia hosts a huge Labor Day weekend celebration each year with plenty of exciting events to check out. There are multiple fireworks shows happening throughout the city, including one at Longwood Gardens as well as one at Sesame Place that’s perfect for families with young children. You’ll find outdoor concerts throughout the city in a variety of genres to suit your musical tastes. Additionally, it’s the last weekend to visit the Blue Cross River Rink Summer Fest, which is a fun event for both kids and adults to check out. They have a huge Ferris wheel, roller skating, an arcade, and mini-golf, and you can enjoy it all by snacking on classic boardwalk food and drinking a craft beer. Labor Day weekend is the perfect time to get out and explore Philadelphia.

Made in America Music Festival

Also happening Labor Day weekend is the Made in America music festival, which brings some of today’s hottest musical acts to Benjamin Franklin Parkway. The show this year is headlined by Cardi B and Travis Scott, and there are performances by other superstars as well, including Lizzo, James Blake, and more. The huge festival also offers an array of fun activities to enjoy, as well as art exhibits and a social justice hub. If you get hungry, you’ll find food trucks throughout the festival, and there are also plenty of places where you can pick up a beer or a cocktail.

Doylestown Arts Festival

This fun, family-friendly event is the perfect way to start the fall season. The festival is completely free and features the works of over 160 different artists from the area. You’ll also find plenty of fun interactive art demonstrations and presentations on glass blowing, pottery, and much more. There are multiple stages with live music throughout the festival, and there are also food courts featuring tasty local food trucks. The event is held in conjunction with the Thompson Bucks County Classic, which hosts six big races in the area that weekend.

Eagles Season Kickoff

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the most beloved teams in the NFL, and the opening kickoff game at Lincoln Financial Field is sure to be huge. This year, they are kicking off the season on August 22nd, playing against the Baltimore Ravens. The tailgating experience before the game should be exciting as well since the weather is still warm. If you can’t make it to the opening game, be sure to check out one of the many other home games throughout the season, or watch at one of Philadelphia’s many sports bars. The Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2018 and had a 9-7 win-loss record last season, so fans are already getting excited to see how they will play this year.
